MT. KILIMANJAROOne of Africa's most magnificent sights, Mount Kilimanjaro stands at a majestic 5,895 m. This almost perfectly shaped volcano is Africa's highest peak, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, and the ambition of avid trekkers everywhere! We offer the 2 famous routes Machame & Marangu Route for your final goal...the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kilimanjaro trek, Gillman's Point, Uhuru Peak, stunning scenery, the challenge of a lifetime. Climbing Routes: Marangu & MachameThis volcano's highest and youngest cone is named Kibo. Shira to the West and Mawenzi in the east are older cones that make up Kilimanjaro. Kibo has not been active in modern times, but steam and sulfur are still emitted. At the top of Kibo's summit is one and a half miles (two and a quarter km) wide crater. The best months of the year to ascend Kibo, even though one could easily succeed throughout the year, are definitely January, February and September. Also good are July and August but much colder, November and December which could be wetter.
It is advisable to pack your clothing and equipment into a waterproof rucksack or duffel bag for porters to carry. Also it is advisable to have a small day sack to carry your raincoat, camera, packed lunch and energy snack and items of personal nature. MT KENYA Mount Kenya is an extinct volcano about three and a half hours' drive from Nairobi. At 5199m (17, 057 feet) it is the second highest mountain in Africa.
To reach its two highest peaks requires a technical climb, but its third highest peak requires only a moderately difficult hike.During your hike, you will have to take account of these widely divergent weather conditions. Porters will carry your extra clothes, camping equipment and other odds and ends. When we are on the move, we will not have access to this gear since the porters usually break camp early and are well ahead of us in order to set up camp for the end of the day.
